Nemanja Matic firmly on the radar of Barcelona

Barcelona are poised to sign Serbian and Manchester United veteran midfielder Nemanja Matic at the end of this season, reports the Sun.

The Catalan club are a tad short of squad players and they are already planning to fortify their ailing squad in order to remain competitive in the La Liga. Matic is gradually running down his contract at United, it is best they sell him at a cut price because the renewal of his deal is highly unlikely as it seem.

Matic joined United from Chelsea in the summer of 2017 with the pedigree of a world class defensive midfielder but he’s been reduced to a fringe player this season. The 33 year old player has featured in only five league games under Solskjaer this term and it appears that he’s falling down the selection perking order of the club.

His best bet at playing regularly is away from the Fortress of Old Trafford, and given the financial crisis revealed at Barcelona find themselves, they’d under go for players in the mould of Matic that can come cheap. They were forced to let go the best player of his generation Lionel Messi among some of their stars like Ilaix Moriba who joined RB Lipzig, and Miralem Pjanic who was loaned to Besiktas due to the paucity of transfer funds. However, the club have started a rebuilding effort that will likely involve free and cheap transfers.

Barcelona are struggling financially but they should be able to afford a £10 million sign on fee for Matic, who despite his age, still has so much to offer as posited on best online casinos.

United are already targeting some rising star midfielders like Aurelien Tchouameni, and should they sign a DM, it will further throw Matic’s future in doubt.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils take on Atalanta in the Champions League tonight, they’d be looking to bounce back from their defeat in the League against Leicester City.
