Is This Guy Our Most Underrated Player?

Earlier this month, another one of our writers suggested that the return of Michael Carrick could be the solution to United’s problems.

Carrick had another terrific game this weekend against Hull. He does nothing particularly fancy; nothing that gets the crowds off their feet, but he has made a huge difference to United since coming back from Injury. He barely wastes a pass, and that allows the flair midfield players like Di Maria, Mata and Herrera to play the beautiful game that is so pleasing on the eye.

Whilst Carrick has had a great career with United, he has had his critics, and considering the lack of top quality midfield players he has had around him these past 4 years, he most definitely deserves a lot more credit than he gets.

He is now 33, and my guess is that this could infact be his last season as a regular starter for United, as they will undoubtedly look to buy a world class holding midfield player like Strootman. But if we finish top 4, which I believe we will, Michael Carrick will have played a very important role in us reaching that goal.
