LVG Has a Striking Decision to Make

As we look forward to welcoming Stoke to the Theatre of Dreams on Tuesday night, it’s looking like we finally have all our strikers fit and available for selection.

We have all seen RVP appearing to have lost his Midas touch this season, but he did score a great goal against Hull this weekend which will hopefully give him his confidence back.

Falcao is now presumably fully fit after coming on in the 70th minute, and he nearly scored a fabulous goal only to be denied by Dawson’s sizeable behind. On another day, that would have been in the back of the net, and for the few minutes Falcao has played so far, he has always looked like grabbing a goal or two.

So who should LVG start with on Tuesday night? If Rooney isn’t fit, then the decision is made for him – he can start both of them as out and out strikers, with Mata playing in the hole. If Rooney is fit, maybe give him a rest on the bench to boost RVP’s confidence, and you can always bring Wazza on with 30 minutes to go if needed. It’s a tough one for LVG, as you want to keep Van Persie feeling good about himself after his great strike, and you also have to give Falcao a start, especially against a team we should beat quite comfortably.

It will be interesting to see how we line up for this one – Di Maria is definitely out, but hopefully back for the two big games at Southampton and home to Liverpool.
