Alex Song: Infinitely Better than Bebe, But Almost As Cheap
With the great news of Juan Mata signing yesterday, wouldn’t it be bloody marvellous if we could sign even one more player to play in the middle of the park.
We’re being linked strongly with Yohan Cabaye, who would certainly be a good replacement for the relentlessly average Cleverley, but what we really need is a defensively-minded player who can actually pass the ball to a red shirt, tackle before the goal beckons, and seriously help us challenge for that top 4 place.
My understanding is that Alex Song would be available for less than £10 million, and at 26 years old, he’s the perfect age for a 4-year deal. How can this be passed up by United? Where’s the risk? He is a proven Premier League player, and had a great relationship with RVP. In fact, many Arsenal fans will tell you he was their best player at one point. Who knows, perhaps he could even help Robin get back to his best. And if we can get Song for such a modest price, any slight chance of him not performing to the level we require is surely a calculated risk we’d be wise to take.
United paid £7.5 for the clown they call Bebe, not to mention the £27.5 million we splurged on the unmitigated flop that is Fellaini. Meanwhile, Alex Song is fighting for a place at the club with the best midfield in world football, and surely gagging for some first team football at an equally massive club.
Come on United – we are crying out for a player like this in our team; it’s a no brainier. Eddy, get the cheque book out and get him signed up this week!
